2026 Children, Race, and Racism Institute

Friday, May 15th | 8:00 am – 4:00 pm | South Seattle College

We are excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2026 Children, Race, and Racism Institute!

This Institute is open to all Seattle-area educators including Seattle Preschool Program, Head Start, ECEAP, CCAP, and Kindergarten-3rd grade teachers, program staff, and administrators.

This year’s Institute offers a reflective look back and a celebration of the Seattle Preschool Program as we mark the close of its 10th year. The day will begin with an opening keynote, followed by an interactive morning presentation. In the afternoon, participants will choose from a selection of workshops exploring topics such as Street Data, Liberatory Design, Making Meaning of Data Through an Equity Lens, and more.

The 2026 theme, Honoring the Cultural Brilliance of Seattle’s Children: Growing and Glowing from Early Learning to 3rd Grade, reflects an expanded focus. While the Institute has historically centered preschool-age children, this year we are excited to welcome school-age partners in recognition of the importance of their role alongside preschool educators in supporting kindergarten transition and sustaining growth beyond preschool.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

STARS hours will be available for attendees.
